Strategies of the formation of adherence to treatment of HIV infection in psychoactive substance abusers

The  article  discusses  various  aspects  of  understanding  adherence  in  the  context  of  HIV  infection,  specifies  strategies  of formation of adherence to treatment of this disease in psychoactive substance abusers. Available possibilities of anti-relapse treatment  of  patients  with  opioid  and  alcoholic  dependence  with  an  extended-release  naltrexone  preparation  (Vivitrol)  are analyzed. The results of Russian and world studies are interpreted from the position of the significance of a complex approach to the formation of desirable behaviour of HIB-infected psychoactive substance abusers with regard to antiretroviral therapy. The conclusion is made that the use of modern pharmacological possibilities in combination with programmes of social and psychological  rehabilitation  within  the  framework  of  the  multi-professional  approach  permits  to  administer  early  effective treatment of HIV infection in psychoactive substance abusers, contributes to the formation of adherence to outpatient follow-up in such patients, and also has a preventive effect, reducing the risk of HIV transfer.
