Analysis of morbidity among premature newborns at premature rupture of membranes

The author analyzed the most common diseases of premature newborns, whose birth was accompanied by premature rupture of membranes. The examination involved 778 newborns, born naturally at 22–34 weeks of gestation. It was found that the maximum prolongation of pregnancy complicated by premature rupture of membranes over 25 weeks reliably decreased the frequency of development of severe forms of respiratory failure syndrome and complications related to prolonged artificial lung ventilation, including chronic diseases of the lungs.
